The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

- finds documents containing 'mansfield' or 'cemetery'
- mansfield or cemetery
- same as above
- mansfield and cemetery
- finds documents containing both 'mansfield' and 'cemetery'
- mansfield not cemetery
- finds documents containing 'mansfield' but not 'cemetery'
